SEO foundations to set before launch day
The technical and editorial decisions that give a new website a stronger start in search.

Start with search intent and site structure
Search visibility begins before keyword placement. Identify the questions and tasks that matter to prospective customers, group closely related needs and give each important intent a useful destination. A logical structure helps people navigate and helps search systems understand how pages relate.
Avoid creating near-duplicate pages for every slight keyword variation. Google’s current guidance emphasizes helpful, reliable, people-first content and warns against scaled pages made primarily to capture search traffic. Each indexable page should have a distinct job and enough first-hand value to justify its existence.
Make important pages crawlable
Use ordinary HTML links with descriptive anchor text, keep important pages within a sensible number of clicks and ensure navigation works without relying on scripts alone. Check that robots directives, canonical URLs and redirects express the intended version of every page.
Create an XML sitemap and submit it through Google Search Console, but remember that a sitemap is a discovery aid rather than a guarantee of indexing. Use URL Inspection to confirm that Google can fetch and render priority pages.
Write useful titles and page content
Every page needs a descriptive title, a clear main heading and content that answers the visitor’s question. Titles should distinguish pages from one another without repeating boilerplate or forcing keywords into unnatural phrases.
Show who created the content, explain relevant experience and cite dependable sources for factual claims. Google recommends evaluating content through ‘Who, How and Why’, with the primary purpose being to help an intended audience rather than manipulate rankings.
Validate technical quality
Test mobile layouts, keyboard navigation, forms, status messages and media alternatives. Confirm that pages return the correct HTTP status, structured data matches visible content and social metadata presents the intended title, description and image.
Performance also belongs in the launch checklist. Compress images, control layout shifts, limit unnecessary JavaScript and test real templates rather than only the homepage. A fast shell cannot compensate for slow product, article or location pages.
Measure from the first visit
Configure analytics, meaningful conversion events and Search Console before launch. Record annotations for the launch date and major migrations so later changes in traffic can be interpreted with context.
Monitor indexing, queries, landing pages, Core Web Vitals and conversions over time. Rankings fluctuate and Google does not guarantee inclusion or a particular position, so judge SEO by qualified visibility and business outcomes rather than a single keyword screenshot.
